COMMITMENT V COMPROMISE

First of all; Holiness requires covenant faithfulness. In Gen 15 and 17, God made a covenant with Abraham, promising to make his descendants into a great nation. Now that promise was being realized as God restated his agreement with the Israelite nation, the descendants of Abraham. God promised to bless and care for them. The people promised to obey him. The covenant was thus sealed. But the good intentions of the people quickly wore off. Have you made a commitment to God? How are you holding up your end of the bargain?


Faithfulness has its perils of which one needs to be warned. First, the warning about ceasing. It is easy to quit, but that is not faithfulness. When the work becomes hard and discouragement comes, quitting seems the way out.


Second, the warning about compromise . Another way faithfulness is killed is compromise . God’s servants must do it God’s way and no other way. The instructions for making the Tabernacle and its furniture and utensils included a repeated warning. “Look that thou make them after their pattern, which was showed thee in the mount” (Ex 25:40) - No compromise was permitted.
