LOOKING FOR A CHRISTIAN ROLE MODEL - 1 Kings Chapter 10
4 And the queen of Sheba seeth all the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he built, 5 and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the standing of his ministers, and their clothing, and his butlers, and his burnt-offering that he causeth to ascend in the house of Jehovah, and there hath not been in her any more spirit.
6 And she saith unto the king, 'True hath been the word that I heard in my land, concerning thy matters and thy wisdom; 7 and I gave no credence to the words till that I have come, and my eyes see, and lo, it was not declared to me -- the half; thou hast added wisdom and goodness unto the report that I heard. 8 O the happiness of thy men, O the happiness of thy servants -- these -- who are standing before thee continually, who are hearing thy wisdom! 9 Jehovah thy God is blessed who delighted in thee, to put thee on the throne of Israel; in Jehovah's loving Israel to the age He doth set thee for king, to do judgment and righteousness.
Doing a proper assessment of the above Scripture, the queen of Sheba saw in Solomon, beyond the luxuries, and the number of his servants and ministers, a wisdom packaged with goodness. The effect of that was evident in the countenance of those that were serving him, with the uttermost glory being given back to the Lord God. We must also note specifically that the queen was able to identify, not that she was told, but what she witnessed herself, that Solomon was raised for a specific purpose; that being the leading of a nation loved by God, in true judgment and righteousness.
We could expand the two categories ''servants and ministers'' to include both that worked for and with him. This, in our own generation could go as far as the public, who are taxpayers and to whom the king too was responsible to cater for. I'm so impressed with the order seen here: Servants seating and Ministers standing. I take the liberty, the sitting servants are as the populace, while the standing ministers are the serving members involved in governance. One would note that the category of the butlers, which might be a reference to the palace staff category was separately identified here.
But all in all, everyone was at the king's table, in their rightful place, the standing ministers were not trying to unseat the seating servant and vice versa. The countenance of everyone was radiant and people visiting from outside could see the grace of goodness. They could see purpose of judgment, which is the key element of human relations, and righteousness; the perfect commandment of God. The result being a praise to the glory of the Father.
