So, God directed Abraham to the land of Canaan (he was right on the land and lived there) and told him His plan to give the land to him and his offspring Gen 12. One day these two friends had a stormy session, God was laying out His plans but Abraham was laying out his weakness Gen 15. The session started from a vision and ended with a deep sleep for Abraham during which God made known His plan to take Abraham's descendants to Egypt, where they will be ill-treated but come out with great possessions to return back to Canaan and take possession of the Land.
Joseph, the dreamer boy, was the person chosen in destiny, to fit in, into that plan of God! Joseph had no training in leadership but he matched his talent with godly virtues; holiness (to God) and righteousness (to men) He sought not personal benefits, he sought not positions, even at his own detriment, he stood his ground. How many would have jump at the opportunity of being between the legs of their masters wives or under the heat of their masters' husbands?
Joseph never took anything by fire nor by force, he rested on God and the great Pathfinder made way for him even in the prison! When Joseph became Egypt's no 2 citizen, he did not amass wealth to himself but made sure everything is put in place that no one suffered hunger. Through him, Egypt became great; an end result of true public servants.
Then his family came in! Why didn't Joseph leave his family in Canaan and supply them daily with food? Joseph knew the plan of God! Joseph wasn't walking unconsciously, Joseph wasn't running a "trial and error" system. Knowledge is power, so they said, but it has to be good knowledge. Joseph was like Gideon (Judges 6) THE STORY OF GOD IS POWER ITSELF!!! PARENTS! Let's go back to telling our children the wonderful story of God for therein is our and their purpose/s perfectly laid out. Isn't our children, trained under us and in prestigious institutions in the world, that are being indicted in fraud and corrupt practises both within and outside the country?
Religious leaders, especially CHURCH LEADERS (this is the faith I know inside out) let's go back to the wonderful story of God in our congregations. Are we not ashamed that over 50 percent Christians are in government today and we are listed among the most corrupt nation? What is our pride? What is our joy? What is our Real achievement in God's plan?
Joseph's purpose was not to become a prime minister, his purpose was to lead the children of Israel from Canaan to Egypt just as Moses was to lead them from Egypt back to Canaan, and as identify earlier, he (as well as Moses too) knew the story. Do I have a proof? Yes! In Gen 50:22-25 as Joseph drew near to death, he gave an instruction for his bones to be taken along when the Lord delivers Israel, that's the proof that he knew the story very well. A good father he had who had also instructed him about the story, and who was buried in Canaan rather than Egypt.
I beg all parents and church leaders by the mercies of God to return back to the basic story of God. From where comes all these material-oriented and worldly-profit teachings? Do the congregants know anything more than achieving status and positions? Where....where is purpose? It's not position or status that creates purpose rather it's purpose that brings opportunity of position. Positioning is for the fulfilment of purpose not the other way round. If you have no purpose and you find yourself, by whatever means, in a position, you can't achieve anything. You are actually a "not fit for purpose"
I would that I do not use this example but my hands are tied. "I did not wear shoes, now I do"- so what? How do your change of status promote the purpose of God? "I'm the richest man. I am the the most beautiful girl. I am the youngest scientist...e.t.c" - welcome o! What part of God's plan have you fulfilled by that? Whose life is affected positively and in accordance with God's will by your ownership of a jet or armoured hummer?
Most beautiful girl/lady, what godly purpose have you achieved by throwing your bum to clueless hungry eyes showing the younger generation they could only be appreciated through "naked" ambitions? Nollywood! What godly purpose have you achieved by going naked on the screen to display your talent? And you are trained in a Christian home! Someone may have failed telling you God's story or you may have received the corrupted version.
To fit in, you must know the story for therein lies the purpose and your place is marked out for your part in the whole picture.
